The man who finally gives his initial to the house is also the man to whom we can owe the iconic cuvée. “Only the best” was the only motto that drove the winemaker Georges Hermann Mumm. In 1876, as a tribute to wine, Mumm decided to take a red silk ribbon as an ornament for the bottle. It serves as a symbol for the highest French honors, the royal “Ordre et Militaire de Saint Louis” and for the “Grand Cordon de la Légion d’Honneur”. As the champagne for the sovereign, so great became the fame of the Cordon Rouge wine, so that it became the symbol of the house and the champagne as a whole. Greenish yellow, light taste of nut and apple. It is very acidic and therefore goes very well with a variety of dishes.
